The Shortest Man in the World — Chandra Bahadur Dangi

Chandra Bahadur Dangi (born on November 30, 1939) is the shortest man in the world, measuring 0.546 m (1 ft 9 in). Dangi is a primordial dwarf. He broke the record of Gul Mohammed (1957-1997), the shortest adult human whose height was 0.5715 m (1 ft 11 in). Chandra came to news highlights of local media when a wood contractor saw him in his village. All of his family members are of usual size.

The Shortest adult human ever recorded after measuring his height three times in 24 hours. The chief editor of Guinness Book of World Records said that Chandra is the only person in Guinness' 57 years history to record the title of the shortest man at the age of 73.

Sun Cruise Ship on the top of the Cliff

Sun Cruise Hotel and Yacht from Jeongdongjin Beach, I could only walk. Public transport was out of question as there was only one bus (Bus 109) going to the resort every two hours. Flagging down a taxi was also not easy as empty taxis were few and far between.

To get to Sun Cruise Hotel and Yacht from Jeongdongjin Beach, I could only walk. Public transport was out of question as there was only one bus (Bus 109) going to the Hotel every two hours. Flagging down a taxi was also not easy as empty taxis were few and far between.

The slope leading to the Hotel was steep, probably about 50° gradient. I could feel the full force of gravity acting down on me as I struggled my way up. The fortunate thing was the distance to overcome was not too long. It took about 15-20 minutes to get to the top but it was worthwhile effort.

Entrance fee for non-resort guest is 5,000won. The recommended course - panaromic view of the East Sea, bird's eye view of Jeongdongjin from the Observation Deck and a leisure walk around the sculpture park. The Observation Deck is at level 9. To get to the open deck or the Observation Deck, I have to first negotiate through a souvenir shop. For people who are afraid of height, the open deck is not a place to be, because the only barrier that separates you from the cliff below is the guardrails. But for me, standing at such an elevated height and close to the edge of the ship with absolutely nothing to obstruct my view, gave me an adrenaline rush.

The revolving Sky Lounge is at level 10 but it is not served by lift. You have to walk up two levels (there is an intermediate level between level 9 and 10) of stairs to get there. It is an ideal place to sit down, enjoy a cup of coffee and the wonderful view outside without feeling acrophobic.

After sunset (about 5:30pm), temperature dipped sharply. Staying too long outdoor was just too chilly for comfort. So it was back to accommodation for me to "thaw" a bit before going back to Jeongdongjin Beach for the "New Year Party". I did not stay for the countdown. Countdown was done in my room with TV on. At midnight, I looked out the windows as fireworks lit up the night sky of Jeongdongjin. I could not remember when was the last time I saw fireworks on New Year's Day.

Aqueduct Bridge — Netherlands

The Ringvaart (known in full as Ringvaart of the Haarlemmermeer Polder) is a canal in the province of North Holland, the Netherlands. The Ringvaart (Dutch meaning “ring canal”) is a true circular canal surrounding the Haarlemmermeer polder and forms the boundary of the Haarlemmermeer municipality. Ringvaart is also the name of the dike bordering the canal.

Near Roelofarendsveen, the Ringvaart crosses the A4 Highway by means of an aqueduct. It was built in 1961, making it the oldest aqueduct in the Netherlands. In 2006, construction was completed of two new portions: on the east side for crossing new north-bound lanes for the expanded highway; and on the west side for the new HSL-Zuid high-speed railway. Crystal Clear Swiss River Verzasca

The Verzasca River, in Switzerland, is known all over the world for its clear, turquoise waters, but until now its beauty had only been captured from the surface. Photographer Claudio Gazzaroli decided to change that, so he put on a diving suit, took his waterproof camera and dived onto the riverbed to take some truly mind-blowing photos.

The 30-km-long Verzasca mountain river originates at Pizzo Barone and flows into Lake Maggiore, in Italy. The river valley is located in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland and is a popular tourist destination. People come from all around the globe to see the turquoise waters of Verzasca, do scuba-diving and admire its vibrant colored rocks. Most of them prefer to take photos of Verzasca from the mountains that surround it or from the many bridges built over it. But photographer Claudio Gazzaroli wanted to offer a different perspective on this unique wonder of nature. He dived town 50 feet to the bottom of Verzasca and managed to capture the almost unearthly clarity of its waters. ‘I wanted to show the beauty of this place in a new way,’ Gazzaroli said. These photos look absolutely amazing, but do you notice anything strange about them? Where are all the fish and marine plants that usually live in mountain rivers like Verzasca? Apparently there are none… I read somewhere that the high transparency of the river water is caused by high acidity, which also makes it impossible for any organisms to thrive there. So while Verzasca River may be a great place to take surreal photographs, it’s basically dead, and that makes it a little to creepy for me. That’s pretty strange, right? Although I known there’s nothing living in the river to be afraid of, that thought alone scares me even more…

Acrobatic Performers Travel Within a Circular Mobile Home

The Wheel House is a live performance in which two acrobatic performers entertain audiences with the slow-paced rolling travel of their mobile home. The interior space of the circular home is designed to look just like a normal house, with doors, windows, curtains, pots and pans, and even a bed. The project is produced by Acrojou Circus Theatre, a group formed in 2006 by artistic directors Jeni Barnard and Barney White. According to their website, the team has so far created six original shows, toured within nine countries, and performed to nearly 60,000 people.

The Wheel House Act

During The Wheel House act, two traveling characters dressed like hobos repetitively climb over each other, moving a portable home along a straight path to nowhere. Paired with a soundtrack, the creaking wheel inches along, allowing viewers to walk alongside and witness the artistic display. The pair stops at intervals to perform every day living activities within the tiny space. Acrojou Circus Theatre describes the piece as, "Theatrical acrobatics, comedy, and breathtaking moments of risk, all housed within an exquisite, hand-built structure." Yakutsk — The Coldest City in The World

Yakutsk, a remote city in Eastern Siberia along the Lena River, is the coldest city in the world. Located 1840 km away from Irkoustk and 5000 km away from Moscow, this city founded in 1632 by the Cossacks imposes upon its inhabitants an extreme way of life. And yet, despite particularly harsh conditions, Yakutsk boasts a population of 270,000, or a quarter of the entire population of Siberia. No other place on the planet experiences the temperature extreme found here: in winter, the temperatures regularly fall to minus 40° (the coldest temperature recorded was –64°C) and in summer often reaches temperatures above 30°C. Like a set of wobbly-headed figurines that furnish many desks, these re-imagined celebrities are cartoonish in their warped proportions yet oddly believable due to the artist's skilled abilities.

The photo manipulator explains his process: "It's actually pretty simple, most of these images are ~5 min jobs. The process is mostly just:

1) Copy the head onto a new layer.

2) Reduce background to 65% size (that's the value I was using anyway)

3) Puppet warp the base of the neck/hair to get it to match with the shrunk background as much as possible. 4) Mask away (with a soft brush) the edges of the head layer to make it consistent with the shrunk background."

Scientist Generates Electricity from Foods

Back to Light is a creatively scientific series by photographer Caleb Charland that explores the naturally electrifying power of ordinary objects like fruits and loose change. The images in the series features a number of materials, including consumables readily found in one's pantry, generating enough power to light lamps and LED lights.

The ongoing photo project, which began in 2010, was initially inspired by the powerful simplicity of the potato battery. The science enthusiast explains, "By inserting a galvanized nail into one side of a potato and a copper wire in the other side a small electrical current is generated. The zinc coating on the nail gives off electrons due to the electrolyte environment within the potato. These electrons then travel along the copper wire providing the electrical voltage to illuminate a small light emitting diode. The utter simplicity of this electrical phenomenon is endlessly fascinating for me."

Additionally, Charland reflects on his own project by saying: "This work speaks to a common curiosity we all have for how the world works as well as a global concern for the future of earth’s energy sources. My hope is that these photographs function as micro utopias by suggesting and illustrating the endless possibilities of alternative and sustainable energy production."

Charland tells us that he hopes to expand his project this summer by making "little hydro electric generators and installing them in the landscape." 20. Buenos Aires
